One of the things I found when I looked at EVEĀ  before I bought a suscription was that a lot of people complained of getting bored. I saw nicknames like “Spreadsheets in space” and “The spreadsheet MMO”.

This was obviously not a good thing.

However, the thing that these people missed was that EVE is a goal orientated game. The strategy that most MMO’s take is to lead you from place to place, feeding you content as you go – this keeps you as the consumer occupied, and there is very little thought required.

This is where EVE differs – the sandbox is both a very interesting and involving world, but you are dropped into it with hardly any information about what to do or where to go. Everything is out there, all you need to do is go out and do it!

Plenty of Ships!

Maybe I'll make it my goal to have a hanger like this! :D

The people that found EVE boring just needed to do one thing: make goals for themselves. As soon as you make a goal, short or long term, you have something to work towards, and you can start finding things to do to get you closer to that goal.

So, I’m going to list my goals for EVE. There’ll be a page for it, and I’ll most likely be adding them for a while, but the basic ones are up now (check them outhere!).

Hopefully as I get older, I’ll get to fulfill some!

So, what about you? What are your short and long (money no object) goals for yourself in the Universe that is EVE?
